Nelson Julien

A lifetime resident of Morrisburg Nelson Julien passed away peacefully at home on Friday, September 9, 2016. He was 63.

Nelson was born in Winchester on July 27, 1953, to his parents Albert and Shirley Julien (nee Hodgson).

He and his sister were raised by his grandmother Christina Julien. He worked at Browns Foundries for 17 years and enjoyed every minute of it.

Nelson met his wife Sandra in 1980, and was married.

January 3rd of 1981, he adopted Sandra’s two children, Patricia and Jeffrey. Five years later they had two more children, Matthew and Jennifer.

Nelson is a true family man. He took care of his kids and made sure they had everything they needed. He knew how to make them smile when they were sad and kept them positive if they were scared about something.

Always making funny noises and silly faces, this man was, without a doubt, one of a kind.

He was always there for his wife. He stood by her through everything she went through right up until she took her last breath in April 2016.

You could usually find Nelson out on his bike riding around Morrisburg or hanging out at the arena watching hockey.

He was always volunteering for something in the community.

He belonged to the Knights of Columbus. He was at every Tubie dance they ever had helping out in any way he could to support his local town.

Nelson enjoyed a variety of sports. Some of his favorites were hockey, baseball, darts, and the list could go on for days.

The day Nelson was told he was going to be a grandfather, 20 years ago, was a very proud moment in his life. He now has nine grandchildren – five girls and four boys.

Nelson would always be talking to someone about all of his grandbabies and how much they are growing and how well they are doing in school or sports or just in life itself.

Nelson’s spirit will live on in many. He has shown so many how to love and live life to the fullest. Ride your bike and think of him and cherish the memories you had with Nelson Julien. Fly high.

Nelson is survived by his children Patsy Grenier (Eric) of Sturgeon Falls, Jeff Donnelly-Julien of Morrisburg, Matt Julien (Cindy) of Morrisburg and Jennifer Blue (Byron) of Morrisburg.

Nelson will be fondly remembered by grandchildren Samantha, Jasmine, Anik, Alex, Ethan, Madeline, Daymon, Jordis and Luka.

Dear brother of Vivian Vallieres (John) of Cornwall.  He was predeceased by his wife Sandra Julien (nee Donnelly).  He is also survived by nieces and nephews.

Friends called at the Marsden and McLaughlin Funeral Home, Williamsburg, on Wednesday, September 14th from 10 a.m. until time of the funeral service at 1 p.m., which was conducted by Father Thomas.  Cremation followed.

Donations to the Autism Foundation would be gratefully acknowledged by the family. Online condolences may be made at marsdenmclaughlin.com.
