The ice is in at the Morrisburg arena and skaters started hitting the ice September 12th.
“We’re ready for another season,” said Don W. Lewis, director of recreation facilities for South Dundas.
No significant changes have been made to programming at the arena for this season.
“The Wednesday hump-day hockey is back, everything else is pretty much the same as it was last year,” stated Lewis.
“Everyone we had last year is coming back, all on the same nights and times.”
Ice use started on September 12th with coach training for the CanSkate program run by the Morrisburg and District Figure Skating Club and conditioning skates for the South Dundas Minor Hockey Association.
While the programming has not changed, there have been improvements made to the arena building.
New rubber flooring was laid in change rooms five and six, and in part of the lobby. In addition, a door was replaced between the lobby and the arena.
The recreation department plans to keep the ice in until April 1st, 2017.
There have been no changes to booking ice time this year. To do so, contact Tara Fairbairn at the South Dundas Municipal Centre.
Public skating starts at the arena in October with skating scheduled on Saturdays from 6-7 p.m. Parents, tots and seniors on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 10:30-11:30 a.m. After school skating for 8-18 year olds is on Thursdays between 3:30 and 4:30 p.m.
“I hope everyone has a good 2016-17 season. If anyone has any problems come see me, my door is open anytime,” said Lewis.
