Water and sewer rates going up 10 per cent

Residents of Morrisburg and Iroquois will soon see an increase on their water and sewer bills, as local politicians recently approved the change during a special council meeting.

July 19, saw Municipality of South Dundas council approve CAO/treasurer Shannon Geraghty’s recommendation “for council to increase our water rates 10 per cent effective August 1, which is about $3 a month per user, which is about $18 for the remainder of 2016.” 

Deputy mayor Jim Locke insisted that it be made clear to affected residents that this water rate change also means a resulting increase to the fixed sewer rate, as it is calculated as a percentage of the fixed water rate.
