South Dundas hires new Economic Development Officer

The new face of South Dundas Economic Development is no stranger to Ontario East.

Rob Hunter has accepted the position of Economic Development Officer with the Municipality of South Dundas effective February 1st.

Mr. Hunter joins the Municipality of South Dundas after four and a half years with the Township of North Dundas as Economic Development and Communications Officer. Previous to that, Mr. Hunter was the Executive Director for both the Ontario BIA Association and Downtown Brockville.

“Mr. Hunter has an extensive background in rural economic development,” says Mr. Shannon Geraghty, Chief Administrative Officer/Treasurer. “We are highly impressed by his experience and eager to welcome him to our staff.”

Named 2014 Economic Developer of the Year by Ontario East, Mr. Hunter also holds an Economic Development Certificate from the University of Waterloo and is a Certified Economic Developer with the Economic Development Association of Canada (Ec.D) and International Economic Development Council (CEcD).

“I am very excited to have been selected as the new Economic Development Officer for South Dundas,” says Mr. Hunter. “I look forward to focusing on the expansion of local businesses and the attraction of new businesses that will provide growth and prosperity for South Dundas. I am also looking forward to working with Council, staff and business and community stakeholders to help shape the future of the Municipality.”
