Wednesday, February 3, 2016, South Dundas Recreation and South Dundas youth will be holding its first planned event.
The Glow Hard or Glow Home Skate is a youth (12-18 years) only event that will be held at the Morrisburg Arena.
It will feature glow-in-the-dark skating, t-shirt decorating station, graffiti wall, selfie station and much more.
The event has been exclusively planned by South Dundas youth, for South Dundas youth.
The aim of the Glow in the Dark Skate is to give youth a voice in their community and is the first event in a larger youth engagement initiative.
“South Dundas Recreation wants to provide South Dundas youth with a platform to be involved in the community and have a voice at the municipal level. Organizing this Glow in the Dark Skate with local youth is the first in what we hope will be many youth driven initiatives,” says Ben Macpherson, South Dundas recreation program coordinator
It is our goal to make events like the Glow Hard or Glow Home Skate as affordable as possible so that all youth can attend.
The skate and activities have all been organized by South Dundas youth. Youth that are interested in helping organize can join the “South Dundas Youth” group on Facebook.
February 3, 2016 is a P.A. Day. Transportation will be arranged for youth who live in Williamsburg, Brinston and Iroquois areas.
The event will remain affordable for students, with an entry of under $10.
