“This show was beyond all expectations,” said Jim Millard, on the executive of the Golden Gears Car Club, which hosted a car show and free concert at the Iroquois Point on Sunday, August 30. Golden Gears president Henry Swank estimated that possibly 1,500 people came out to enjoy the perfect weather, the great music of Eddy & the Stingrays, and to take a look at the 450 registered vehicles on display throughout the day. “It was just a fantastic turnout,” Swank said. “I have never seen so many people up here at the Point. And by 10 a.m. this morning, we had show cars lined up from the park all the way back to Hwy 2. Everyone in the club worked very hard to put this event together. We really appreciate all the support we received.” “Cars came from Ottawa, the States, Quebec, just from all over,” said Golden Gear member, Cindy Shaver, registrar for the day. The club handed out a number of trophies to exhibitors at the close of the concert, based on judges’ ratings.
